Christmas trees will not look beautiful and attractive if they don’t have these special decorative lights. These lights not only give life to the trees but also to the houses, making the room livelier with a magical dreamlike quality.
Self-made Christmas Lights are not only cost effective but also allows you to create your own style of Christmas lights decorations.
What you need:
For doing this you will need fifty 9 oz clear plastic Solo cups, two strings of 50 indoor/outdoor mini Christmas lights, some 5/16″ staples, a hand stapler and an electric drill with a 3/8″ drill bit.

Method:
- Now drill a 3/8″ hole in the bottom of all of your Solo cups, however you will have to drill slowly so as not to crack the cups. Afterwards arrange twelve cups on their sides to create a ring of cups. Then staple each cup with another at the bottom, by keeping the bases together would fashion a perfect circle base for a self-made Christmas Light Ball.
- The second step is to use nine cups, arrange and staple them exactly as you did above. Then place the second layer on top of the former one and stable each cup to the cup underneath.
- The third step consists of putting one cup up straight and staples the remaining three cups approximately ½” down from the circumference of the center cup, which are then fitted into the central hole and stapled to the second layer.
- Now that you’ve got the vessel, the most important thing is to fit the lights, which is done by using one string of 50 indoor/outdoor mini Christmas lights, to insert two lights into every cup.
If you find that the holes are too big or the cup is cracked, try using a bit of tape to secure and protect the lights. You can now hang these lights anywhere in your room, your Christmas tree or better still on the balcony.
