How to Remove Stains of Dried Paint on Your Laminate Floor

 

For those of us who have laminate flooring know the hard work that it takes to take to keep the laminate floor in shape. It is also a good measure to cover the laminate floor when you are painting up the walls surrounding the laminate floors. Still, even when doing that a drop of pain can still escape the newspaper covering the floor and get on the laminate floor.

Paint usually takes a couple of days to completely set through; nevertheless you should immediately try to clean or remove any paint stain immediately after that happens. Whenever you are doing this task, it should be done with care and although laminate floors are hard wearing and attractive, the process of removing dried paint needs to be done very carefully so that it will not damage the floor’s surface. Besides that, you also need to know whether the dried paint comes from water-based or oil-based paint and the easiest way to find out the information is by reading its label, which can be found on your paint can under its clean-up instructions.

To remove stains of dried paint on your laminate floor, you need:

  • Paint remover or cleaner with acetone
  • Cloth
  • Water
  • Warm water
  • Vacuum

How to Remove Stains Of Dried Paint on Your Laminate Floor


  • Firstly, you must clean the stained area from debris or dirt. You can use a vacuum to get rid of all the dirt that could scratch the laminate floor’s surface once you start doing your cleaning task.
  • Once the first step is done, it is time for you to remove the dried paint. One of the ways is to use a cleaner along with acetone, such as a nail polish remover, to a cloth or even use an ammonia-based window cleaner. Look for a one-sided sharp edge to lift up the edges of the splatters from the floor.
    • Make sure that you do it carefully as to not to do any damage to the floor. You should do this step until most of the paint has been successfully removed. Once done, you have to buff down the rest by using fine grade steel wool before you start to remove the dust immediately.
  • If the stains are made of latex paint, just spray a latex paint cleaner on the affected area of the laminate floor and you should also know about the latex paint, which is much easier to be removed rather than other types of paint.
  • As for an old dried latex paint, you can remove them by soaking the affected area with isopropyl alcohol. But, remember not to use isopropyl alcohol on floors that have been finished by urethane.
  • Apply the stain cleaner on the affected area or stain before you start to leave it to set for at least two minutes. Once finished, apply some pressure enabling you to lift the paint stain.
