How to Remove Dried Silly String from Bricks

Silly string is normally used when you organize a party. It is an inexpensive foam party favor packed in a can and its liquid substance within the can will turn into plastic string whenever you expose it into the air. When you spray the silly string can, it will shoot long and continuous ropes designed with brightly colored string. However, the string is not easy to remove if it is stuck onto any brick surface and dries. Although you can easily pull it off if the silly string falls on skin, hair or clothing, but you would still require some effort whenever you want to clean up the mess of silly string especially after your party is over.   • Garden hose
  • Bucket
  • Water
  • Broom
  • Dish soap
  • Nylon scrub brush
  • Stiff bristle brush
  • Dustpan

  • First thing that you have to do is to remove all the long strands of silly string on the bricks by using your bare hand.
    • Next, you need to dispose the silly string into a garbage bag and allow it to dry before you start to do any cleaning task.
  • If your bricks surface is in the outside area of your house or your garden
    • You can simply spray the bricks surface just by using your garden hose in order to soften the silly string and loosen them from the bricks.
    • This is one of the ways for you to apply whenever you are dealing with a small amount of silly string or when you want to remove the silly string residue off your brick surface.
  • Another step is for you to fill up a bucket with a minimum of one gallon of water and mix it with 1/4 cup of dish soap
    • Use this method if you encounter stubborn silly string that you are unable to remove from the brick surface.
    • Make sure that the dish soap and water are dissolved in the bucket by stirring them thoroughly.

As for any loose strands of silly string that falls onto the floor or ground, you may sweep them using your dustpan and throw them into the garbage bag.

  • Once the dish soap and water have dissolved thoroughly,
    • You need to dip a soft nylon scrub brush into the mixture of soapy water. If you do not have a nylon scrub brush, you can also use a stiff bristle brush.
    • Then, you can start to scrub the bricks.
    • You should apply this technique continuously right until you have managed to remove all the dried silly string.
  • Once you have finished doing your scrubbing task on the bricks
    • You have to rinse the bricks surface by using your garden hose
    • Then, you need to allow the affected bricks to air dry completely

      Always remember that dried silly strings

      • Always produce a sticky residue.
      • When it is dried, it will seep into cracks and crevices in your bricks surface.
      • Make sure that you apply high water pressure whenever you are removing silly string residue whether it is on your bricks surface, concrete as well as stone.
