How to Feed Plants in a Hydroponics System the Easy Way

Over the years, the use and importance of Hydroponic systems have either been underrated or underestimated. There are lots of hydroponic growing systems that you can choose from if you decide to use this method in growing plants. The main types of this system include the Hand Watering Method, Deep Water Culture (DWC), Flood and Drain (Ebb and flow method), Drip System, Nutrient Film Technique (NFT), Wick System, and the Aeroponics method. Each of these methods comes with its own ways of feeding plants because plants require constant feeding of food, water, and oxygen for its roots as well as to keep them from drowning inside the water.

Some of us think that Hydroponic system is an expensive method of doing your gardening, but as a matter of fact it is not what most people assume of it to be. In fact, it is a very affordable way to control and grow your own herbs, flowers, or vegetables. Using the hydroponics technique in gardening is very good because it uses less space and you can place them on your porch, patio or even inside your house.

Note: Always update your knowledge of pipe, pumps and gardening, plus also on hydroponics background in order to create your very own inexpensive hydroponics garden.

Hydroponic Nutrient Film Technique (NFT) method is one of the ways being used by most of the hydroponic gardeners. This is due to the evenly and steady distribution of water along with nutrients, which proves to be highly effective leading to the overall higher yielding of crops. Besides that, this technique requires less water, and is less susceptible to disease and pests.

To Feed Plants in a Hydroponics System the Easy Way, you will need:

  • Oxygen and nutrients supply
  • Plant
  • Container
  • Water

How to Feed Plants in a Hydroponics System the Easy Way

  • For the hydroponics system that you want to build, the most important features that come with it are oxygen and nutrients for the plant’s roots.
  • One of the easiest and simple ways to feed your plants is by using the hand watering hydroponic system method.
    • As for those of you who like to mix perlite, vermiculite, and coconut coir (all nutrient free with at least a mixture of 50/50 of both perlite/vermiculite) for growing hydroponic plants, remember to include some plant food in the water whenever you start to hand-water the plants.
  • This method is so simple to create and the system also has plants that easily support organics.

TIP: Coconut coir and vermiculite help you retain water and you can use them in the soilless mix. Your containers will always stay moist in between your hand-watering (it is recommended to do it daily or every two days. Sphagnum peat can also be used as the base of your filter water pond system.

FUN FACT:

Hydroponics is the most natural and safest way one can grow plants. More research is being done on this subject to get better results and make the hydroponics system available to many.
