Soundproof A Room
In order to have a soundproof room in your house, there are several approaches for completing the task but it all depends on whether your house is still under construction or is already erected. Why do we need to soundproof a room? Loud music, bathroom noises or loud screaming of children can be reduced to a tolerable level in a particular room. The soundproofing of a certain room is more effective, easier to install and of course, less expensive when installed in a new construction. Moreover, it will be even cheaper if you were to soundproof a room by yourself.

Method:
- For a newly constructed house or room, you must have all the electrical wiring and plumbing in place in your walls to be soundproofed. This is a very important step to take.
- You should also hang a drywall on one side of all the stud walls in order for the room to be closed in, but it will still be able to provide you with access to the interiors of the walls.
- Besides that, you should also apply fiberglass insulation batting of the affected walls, but remember not to pack the batt too tight so that the insulation does not lose its value. Then, you can hang the drywall as usual.
- Other alternative is to hang manufactured soundproofing wall coverings that you can purchase from your local home improvement centers like Pyrotek or Super Soundproofing products which are sold as rigid panels or in rolls.
- If you already live in your house and decide to construct a soundproofing room, you need to remove the drywall from one side of your wall. Once done, you can choose to do the options mentioned in Step 2, Step 3 or Step 4.
- One more option is for you to cut small holes in your drywall near the ceiling between the studs and fill in the space with cellulose or expandable foam insulation.
- Another alternative is to hang manufactured wall covering materials mentioned in Step 4 over your existing walls. This hang wall covering usually comes with a variety of colors and takes up very little space, plus you could also choose from panels, acoustic matting or vibration barrier types.
- Apart from soundproofing your room, you could also soundproof your windows, ceilings and floors by installing double or triple-hung vinyl-framed windows (for new construction) or replace old windows with upgraded units in existing rooms.
- Sound-deadening matting which is much more expensive can be used to soundproof ceilings or even hang a suspended acoustic tile ceiling and for extra soundproof, just roll out batts of thick fiberglass insulation on top of your suspended ceiling.
