Method:
- First of all, you need to clean off any dirt or debris at the area where you want to install the seal and then, you need to open the garage door ensuring that the lip of the door is also clean. This process needs to be done on a good weather because if it is raining or on a windy day, the process will be affected by the weather.
- Follow the instruction provided by the manufacturer within your threshold kit. You will know how to size up the threshold according to the exact size for your open garage door and the rubber thresholds can be trimmed easily for fitting into the required space by using a utility knife. Always measure the size twice to confirm the correct size to be used.
- After you have finished cleaning and drying the area, you have to put down the threshold and test the seal. You must make sure to adjust the threshold accordingly to form a tight seal. When the garage door is closed, the bump of the threshold should form against the inside of the door.
- Then, trace both the inside and outside of the threshold on the garage floor by using a pencil. Once done, remove the threshold and put it first on the side because the next step is for you to apply the adhesive.
- The threshold kit normally comes with its own adhesive which is easy to apply and use. In order to maximize surface adhesion, you need to spread it in the form of a zigzag pattern. This formation will also provide a tight seal in between the threshold and the floor. After that, you can apply the adhesive between the two straight lines that you have traced earlier.
- Next, lay down the threshold carefully over the adhesive, apply pressure on it and align it along the outline that you have made earlier using the pencil.
- When testing to close the garage door, test it manually and ensure that the door does not shift off from the outline that you have laid down.
- Finally, you must allow some time for the adhesive to dry and normally it takes up to 24 hours in order for it to dry thoroughly before you start to use it.
