Recycling Bottles

In the United States alone, nearly 13 million of glass jars and bottles are recycled every day but not all of them can be recycled. Some of the items that can be recycled include soda bottles, food containers, beer, wine, and liquor bottles, and juice containers. These recycled items can be recycled whether through curbside recycling programs, your local community drop-off centers or directly to the local dumpster. Below are some of the tips and ideas on how to recycle your bottles

What you need:

  1. Recycle Bins
  2. Used plastic bottles or glass bottles

Method:

  1. A lot of interesting things that you can do with beverage bottles made of glass. For example you can use an old beer bottle as a candle holder, fill small candies in a clear glass bottle, design a vase from wine bottle or even use a larger wine bottle as a piggy bank.
  2. The glass bottles that you want to recycle also need to be rinsed regardless of its colour whether it is green, clear or amber. These types of bottles usually are accepted by any curbside recycling program near your community (if you have one).
  3. As for beverage bottles made of plastics, it can be used to fill water and then freeze it in order to make a nice “blue ice” for coolers. Besides that, it can also be used as a vase where you can partially fill it with marbles, stones or something which is partially heavy in order to keep it from tipping over. You can also paint it to your preferred colour to accommodate your décor. Other thing that you can do is to fill the bottle with coloured sand and use it as your door stop.
  4. For bottles that are used to store food such as Ketchup or mustard, it can be turned into short-range squirt guns for your children to play. As for used Syrup bottles, you can reuse it back for your homemade ice-cream sauce or other homemade food.
  5. Your hair spray bottles can used to fill in your homemade window/glass cleaner or for misting your plants, but you have to clean it thoroughly before using it.
  6. As for perfume or cologne bottles, you can simply fill them up with colourful liquids so that your children can play “Store” with them but ensure that your children do not stain their clothes with the colour.
