One of the best solutions in removing stains on your sofa is to immediately clean the spills, stains or dirt right after they happen. You can remove stains by either using ready-made cleaning products that you can purchase from your local store but these products can sometimes, in the long run, damage your sofa. Below are some of the ideas and suggestions to enable you to remove stains on your sofa.
What you need:
- Microfiber towel or white cloth
- Baking soda
- Club soda
- Warm water
- White vinegar
- Natural upholstery cleaners
Method:
- The first thing that you need to do is mix three tablespoons of baking soda along with one tablespoon of club soda into a bowl. Mix the ingredients together until it becomes some sort of paste and then, by using a microfiber towel or white cloth (do not use paper towel when using this method), rub the mixture onto the affected stain on the sofa.
- After you have rubbed it in well enough, you can dip the cloth into some warm water and you have to squeeze it out well so that the cloth is damp and not dripping wet with warm water. The next step is to wipe the cleaner solution off your sofa and if there is any baking powder left on the sofa, you can also use a vacuum cleaner to clean it.
- Other solution is by using a cloth and place it in a cup of white vinegar before you can use it to clean the affected stain on your sofa by rubbing on the area until you manage to remove the stain.
- Besides using natural cleaning solutions, you can also purchase natural upholstery cleaners from your local store in order for you to remove the stain on your sofa. The most important thing to remember is to determine the type of stain that you want to remove and also the correct solution to apply on it.
- Apart from that, the types of sofa that you have also need to be taken into consideration. For a micro fiber sofa, you can use baby wipes to clean the affected stain because baby wipes do not have a high amount of moisture. If you are using a Suede sofa, you can use a denatured alcohol and rub it gently on the affected area using saturated cloth (Always try this method first on a hidden area of your sofa to test whether it has an adverse effect or not).
- As for sofa that is made from velvet, you need to dampen the stained area a little bit and then use a hair dryer with low setting on the fabric where it should prevent any water stain from becoming much bigger stain.
